Students
From time to time I found that some peers left utensils in the common pantry after cooking, more than that, is the sauce around the stove and on the floor, not to mention the uncovered trash bin. One day of a few months ago, when I entered the pantry again, what I found instead was a prominent handwritten notice on the wall, it said: dormitory is an area for communal living, where, for the non-local students, is another “home”, please keep the area clean after cooking and make our “home” a healthy and hygienic environment. I felt so great because it said something at the bottom of my heart! I hope that such notices will never turn up again: everyone being self-disciplined, caring for each other, making u-life more harmonious and there shall be less conflicts. |
Helping each other between fellow classmates is very common, but for once I was particularly impressed and moved. One of my fellow classmates knew that I was going to retake IT test and coincidently she was having a related elective course. She thought that the notes would help me a lot; she wanted to give them to me as early as possible; however we did not see each other very often on campus. Therefore, she asked for my home address and sent the notes to me by post. When I received her mail, there was a glow in my heart! Once again I want to wholeheartedly say “Thank you” to her! |
I once got an unsatisfactory test results so I felt really sad about that. My teacher actually came to comfort me, saying that I was his guaranteed/ favourite student and in the future I could perform better which encouraged me superbly. |
The senior students in the Department of Medicine helpfully shared their experience and taught us how to cope with different things and pressure. |
I remember once I was exhausted and got a sore throat because I was rushing to complete my assignments, revision on mid-terms. Even one of my fellow classmates noticed my voice had changed. Unexpectedly, when we had a project meeting next day, she gave me a packet of herbal candy saying that I needed to sooth my throat and reminded me, “We have a lot of mid-terms and assignments in the resent days so don’t get defeated!” Instantly, not only did my throat felt better, my heart was also encouraged! That glowing heart warming feeling was unforgettable! Making others feel joyful and warm does not necessarily require great deeds, sometimes it only takes a few steps only. |
We often feel uneasy in the face of new environment and things. For example, secondary school teachers would prepare notes for us but this becomes our own duty when we study in the university. When I was confused by the operation of the printer, staff in the library kindly provided support. |
The shuttle bus drivers still diligently drive us around the hilly and steep campus even in the extremely hot weather, I am really thankful for that! |
In orientation camps, the group leaders are really caring and helpful. They provide a lot of suggestions and advice regarding academic areas and interpersonal relationships. |
CUHK campus is so large that it is inevitable to ask for directions. Once a lady (a total stranger) was glad to offer help and guided me to the classroom. On the way, she told me that she always got lost in her year 1. |
I felt so bad for once I could not help shedding tears in the classroom. All at once, my fellow classmates all came to take a pat on my shoulder to comfort me without asking me what happened. I felt so touched and relieved about that. |
