In June 2021, the SEN Service of Office of Student Affairs launched the “Turn Imagination to Everyday Life” – Barrier-free Campus Design Competition to call for innovative ideas of a barrier-free campus to support students with special educational needs (SEN). Until June 2022, the competition came to an end. Finalists presented their creative models and ideas to the judging panels, CUHK staff and students on the Model Presentation Day in May 2022. To promote the awareness of CUHK community on SEN, the Deaf Cafeteria was also invited to hold a Sign Language Café booth in the venue. Students were welcomed to learn simple sign language and enjoy a cup of coffee made by deaf baristas.
Based on the professional assessment and audience voting, the results are released. At the Award Ceremony, the top three awards, “Most Considerate Design for Students with SEN” and “Most Popular Design” were presented to the teams with outstanding performance.
