uShine SEN Service Team
Introduction
As a caring University, CUHK seeks to promote a positive learning environment for its students and is committed to offering equal opportunities in academic pursuits for students with disabilities. Students with special educational needs (SEN), for example, hearing impairment, physical disabilities and learning difficulties, may need extra support for their studies. In order to promote mutual support among students, the uShine SEN Service Team is established. It is hoped that both uShiners and students with SEN would better understand their strengths as well as develop a glowing and growing university life through this service network.
Eligibility
You are welcomed to become our uShiners if you are:
- Current full-time undergraduate or postgraduate students from any disciplines and study years
- Supportive, Helpful, eager to promote an Inclusive environment in CUHK, Nurturing and Enthusiastic
Duty
You will provide supports to SEN students in the following areas:
- Format conversion of course materials and references for students with visual impairment
- Braille printing for students with visual impairment
- Note-taking for students with SEN in lectures and tutorials
- Assistance in the production of learning materials
- Provision of learning support to students with learning difficulties
- Provision of other special learning supports according to students' special needs
- Assistance in organizing educational activities
